We have known Niko and Lucy for a very long time and you wont find better food anywhere.
Siffado,Mousaka,Keftedes,it is all brilliant.
We have been going to roda for the past 17-18yrs usually twice a year.
We absoluteley love the place,it has nice taverna,s and a few nice bars.
The thing we really love about greece as a whole is the people,we have many friends there.
In the summer we usually go there about the 3rd week of june for 2 weeks,We have friends from Wales that we usually meet there.
We know the island very well, you will struggle to find a nicer place.
We have been going to roda for years and yearsthis is the studios from hell.
It is the worst we have ever seen, there is one room that has no windows,it is like living in a cupboard.
I would advise you to stay clear of this hellhole.
We have been going to roda for a long time and stayed at a lot of studios.
The last few years we have been staying at the miltos and we love it,we find that it is in easy reach of roda and acharavi.
It is nice and quiet there and the owners are lovely people, and we are very happy to go back there.
We have known Costa since he was a young waiter in a taverna.
He is a great guy and good for a laugh, his drinks are very reasonably
It is a nice atmosphere to sit at the end of a night and chill out.
We always end up there no matter where we have been and he serves the real spirits not like some bars who use cheap substitutes.
Theres usually a couple of friendly sheep hanging around-(private joke)
Easydive in achravi was a brilliant experience, the owners are friendly and they have a well equipped shop.
I would recommened them, they are very patient and helpfull.
When i go back to corfu i will definately be going on another dive with them.
The worst dive i have ever had was with the dive center in kassiopi. He is downright rude his equipment is crap, some of his tanks are out of date. His safety leaves a lot to be desired, never again.
We were back again this year at the miltos, what can we say it is our favourite place to stay.
We went back to roda for 2 weeks at the begining of september.
I passed my level 1 scuba diving course with easy dive,it was brilliant.
They are both vey good instructors, many thanks to them.
Just returned from a two week stay in Roda. Ate at Nikos on first night and thought it was very good. But as you do we tried others.Roda Park was ok Maggies was more expensive and had a poor choice of Greek food. Who wants to eat fish and chips when all that moussaka stifado kleftiko etc are available. So we went back to Nikos and ate there every night and indeed every morning as his breakfasts were huge for 4 euro. The menu is so huge also for children and veggies and a great choice of English if you want a taste of home. Nikos wife Lucy speaks perfect English and is so welcoming to everyone. The waiters Eddie and Kostas are really friendly also.
My husband me and two friends were in Roda for last two weeks of August. We passed by Nikos Taverna on our first night and it was packed out. We ate next door at Roda Park which was quite nice and we said to the waiter there how busy it was next door. He said it was the big holiday time for the Greeks and the Italians and most of them ate there. That made us think if Nikos was good enough for the Greeks and Italians then we should give it a go. So next night we got there earlier and we were treated to delicious food at excellent prices. We tried the English breakfast the next morning. It was so big it kept us going all day. Although we did try two more tavernas which were passable none came up to the very high standard of Nikos. All the staff there were very friendly and made you feel special. It was sad to leave it was like leaving friends behind. We cant wait to go back next year to see them all and taste their wonderful Greek dishes again but not in August as these Italians are a noisy bunch.
Myself wife and two young children spent a week in Roda first week in September. Eating out with two kiddies can be difficult and the first two restaurants we tried confirmed this. Then we found Nikos Family actually by recomendation from a family staying in the same apartments as us THANKS by the way. They had met with the same as us in some other restaurants. Well what a difference. Lucy the owner Nikos wife Nikos himself and the waiters Eddy and Costa were all definatly children friendly. Nikos and Lucy have two boys aged 9 and 6 who were often at the restaurant. The food was excellent and the kids menu great also the set meals three courses for 10 euros. Anyone going to Roda MUST try this restaurant you wont find a better place.
Been going to Corfu for many years on and off always to Roda. Found Nikos Family Taverna many years ago. Have tried others many new ones that come and then go but Nikos is always there I think for over twenty years. Does that not tell you something. Their secret is great food very good prices very friendly staff and the feeling that you are the only people in their taverna because of the attention and welcome that they give to you. Why only 8/10. They must deserve a 10/10 or even better 12/10.
I agree about eating loacal food,i dont go to corfu to eat english food cause we love the greek food.
We have been going to corfu for the last 18 yrs usually roda achravi.Maggies place is say you come down from the crossroads it is second on right and half way down that street on the right.
But the best greek food is nikos family taverna which is the second restaurant on the left down that street.
We are going on the 10th may for a week then we go back in june for 2 weeks,we love the place got a lot of friends there.
going back to roda on the 10th may for a week, cant wait to go back out for a few dives with easy dive in achravi, lovely people.
We have known maggie a long time and she is a lovely person but she knows that we go to corfu for the greek food.
Why people travel all that way to sit and eat fish and chips and sunday roast is beyond me,you can eat that crap any day in the uk.
Dont get me wrong i am not knocking maggie,we are good friends but we go there for the local food.
Going back to roda in october for another 2 weeks, looking forward to going diving again with diveeasy in achravi.
Anyone wishing to learn to dive should go there, they are excellent instructors
My wife and i have known maggie a very long time, and we are very good friends.
Although we always eat at nikos, maggies food is very good but she knows we love the greek food.
Maggie and des are lovely hard working people and do not deserve bad mouthing from some clowns that go there for a few weeks a year.
Maggie runs a nice bar and tries to cater for eveyone but you will always get the odd one in every establishment that you just cannot please,my advice to these people is stay at home.
All the best to Maggie and Des.
We stayed at the fiona from the 4th oct. for 2 weeks, the first week was fine.
The second week the son of the owner theo decided to play really loud music in the bar every night till 3 and 4am we could not get to sleep.
I asked him nicely to turn it down a little but he was not interested,it turned into the holiday from hell.
We will never stay there again,if you have a young family and trying to get them to sleep you got no chance
We have been going to corfu for 19 yrs,we know more than the reps and that is a fact.
We stayed at the fiona, the first week was fine but the second week the son of the owner, theo decided to play really loud music every night in the pool bar till 3 and 4am.
I asked him nicely to turn it down but he refused,so we looked for the rep Laura and low and behold she is in the pool bar with them.
She took sides with theo,to my amazement, she could not give a damn about the customers she is supposed to represent.
This rep was more interested in keeping in with theo,as long as she was having a good time, sod her customers.
How she is still working as a rep there after all the complaints we heard i will never know.
Then the greeks sit and moan about the resort being quiet,is it any wonder. We will never use olympic ever again or stay at the fiona and other guests we spoke to say the same.
Olympic, wake up before you lose all your customers.
If you dont like maggies Clare then why go back, whinging brits give the uk a bad name.
forgot to tick boxes
Just back from Roda, thats our 19th year going there,Lucy and Niko
are very good friends of ours,we usually go twice a year.
What can you say about the food, that is why we always go there and nowhere else.
Nothing personal clare, but people are always ready to critisize,no i dont know you,but how well do you know maggie.
You dont know the problems that she may have,we have known maggie like forever and i know the pressure she is under at the moment.
Her husband is not at all well just now and a few other things which i wont go into because they are confidentual.
She really is a lovely person, anyone can go up to her and ask her how she is and she will talk to you.
I also e-mailed olympic, but they did not have the descency to reply.
We have booked for 3 wks next june through manos and got an excellent deal.
So there you go olympic, more customers lost, you really need to sort out your customer services(thats a joke)and also the could not care less reps.
Going back to roda on the 13th june, cant wait to see lucy and niko and all the family again.
going back to roda on the 13th june, cant wait to diving with diveeasy in achravi again, they are brilliant.
Going back to roda in june, but not with olympic, they are a joke.
Olympic customer services?HA THATS A JOKE
We are going back to roda on the 13th june but never will go back to this place,we have been going to roda for 20 years.
going back on the 13th june for 3 weeks, cant wait to see all our friends again
Going back to roda on the 12th june, cant wait to go diving with dive easy in achravi again.
They are brilliant people,we have known and dived with them for a few years now.
Going back to roda as usual on the 12th june for 3 weeks, cant wait to see niko.lucy and family, whom we have known for many years now.
