| The Palm Tree studio's are located in the centre of town just off the main road, above the Palm Tree Taverna. The studio's are basic with the usual amenities, 2 ring hob, small oven, kettle and fridge, above all, they are clean. All are twin bedded and have small balconies with uninspiring views of back yards or buildings. The best feature is the hot water. For those that have been to Greece, will know that most hot water is reliant on solar panels and once the hot water has gone that's it til the sun shines the next day! So if your last in, chances are it will be a cold shower. Well, the Palm Tree Studio's have emersion heaters. Hot water at the flick of a switch...It does has the misfortune though, to be located next to a bar that belts out window vibrating noise (mostly @ w/ends) which continue to 2/3 in the morning.
The Palm Tree Taverna offers excellent food, It's difficult to avoid the delicious aroma's wafting up from the kitchen below.It offers the best Kleftiko on Corfu, with attentive friendly staff and a convivial host called Dinos.
The studio's are a 5 minute walk to the beach which is shingle and sand with clear warm waters. All the local shops are outside your door.
I would still recommend this venue, noise withstanding.
Acharavi is still fairly unspoilt with good shops and excellent restaurants, we did not have one bad meal and we ate at most. Worth visiting are the 'Pumphouse and Two Brothers' for traditional greek dishes. |
