Elli and Maria Apartments

Reading these comments brought back happy memories of our stay in Villa Elli in August 1984.  Basic accomodation in Elli's back yard, but the beach was really just at the bottom of the garden, a few yards from our ground floor door, and couldn't have been handier.  We travelled with Corfiot Holidays of Datchet, who gave a superb personal service.  Sadly they sold out to someone bigger, who I think went bust a few years later.  Would love to go back, even though we believe Sidari has grown substantially since 1984.  But we never see Elli advertised in any of the major brochures.  However, a few years ago we found a quiet little fishing village in southern Crete, with friendly apartments, and we're going there again (for the third or fourth time) in a few weeks time.  If you want a relaxing holiday, try "Costas and Chrysoulas" in Plakias.  Well worth the long drive from the airport.  Friendly basic apartments; enough shops/minimarkets; friendly tavernas; super beach - with naturist area at the eastern end about a mile along from the little harbour.  Sometimes theres a wind which blows up a bit of a sandstorm on the beach.  Also, the beach is "guarded" by several almost tame geese!  Could chill out and retire there.  No Big Macs, KFC etc etc!

Like the previous comments, my family stayed with Maria and Elli way back in 1987 when Sidari literally was a fishing village and we loved it.  Right on the beach and in such a central position.  We stayed in the largest apartment on the upper floor and I understand that Maria now lives there herself, her husband having passed away.  Elli owns one of the souvenir shops in front of the apartments.  I'm not sure if she lets any of the apartments out now, but I would be interested in finding out if she does.

It is a few years since we were there and we are wanting to return with our son. Please can anyone tell us which tour operator to go through to book again.

Cheers people and we can highly recomend Sidari and the Elli appts for your holiday, but be prepared to eat and drink until you can't anymore.

Last year I stayed here with my friend. We had a great time, and would like to go back this year with our children. Does anyone know which tour company is dealing with them now, or how I can get in touch with Elli and Maria?

we stayed at the elli maria appartments last week in july 2003.
situated on the main street at the front and on the beach at the back,nice location but very noisey at night,did not get much sleep due to load music and thousands of mosquito's no air conditioning in appartments temp was in the 90's.
sidari is a very nice place,clean lots of good places to eat,try the sea breeze on the main street or the italian on the road into sidari.the beach is very nice but the sunbeds are expencive,use one of the hotels that are on the beach edge for free sunbeds.lovely place would recommend it to anybody.

are these apartments know as marias apartments.

Literally on the beach. We were there 1st week in May 2002, weather wasn't brilliant. The resort is so relaxing you don't want to leave. The nearby Hotel Arti Aphrodite has very friendly staff, you can walk along the beach to it from the apartments, have a drink or somrthing to eat and use their sunloungers.

can you please tell me if this is called the Marias apartments as well, if not has anyone been there?

nice appartments we really enjoyed our stay its only a 10 minute walk to the beaches i recomend the hawaii restaurant for a meal excellent place top people we miss you already.The supermarket is 60 seconds away its a co op one and very cheap anyway great place.GO THERE!!!!!!!
