Aquarius Taverna - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Andrew D

Wonderful view at the end of the day. Very busy/popular. Starters ok - we had meze for 2, plenty. Main - stamna beef very hot and 2nd best in Sidari, pastitsada had plenty of pasta. As usual, order a salad too. Ice-cream selection reasonable. Red wine average. Worth the walk up to the restaurant (unless, of course, you are at the Kanali Apts.)

Bolero Bar - (Bars in Sidari)

Andrew D

Dolmades very nice, with good presentation and quantity. Lamb tender with wonderful swordfish. However, not the cheapest for drink and don't try to get food there after about 9pm - they want to attract the younger clientele as a bar. Can't really criticise it, but it didn't fire up the imagination sufficently to visit more than once.

Elyesse Restaurant - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Andrew D

They were having problems finding a chef when we were there. Ordered the meat platter for 2 @ 13euros (in common with other diners) but there was a very long wait (over an hour) - chef's first night and (according to owner) last too ! Desserts were good value. I reckon this is a good restaurant (it has excellent local competition) but wouldn't like to make a comment on the one visit we made.

Mythos - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Andrew D

Very, very good meal. Stuffed pepper and meatballs for starter were excellent, with equally good stamna veal and moussaka as mains. Couldn't fault the meal. "on the house" melon - freebies are thin on the ground in Sidari - followed by liqueur coffee (when they remembered how to make them).

Second visit grilled feta and vine leaves were excellent, thought the stamna not as good, pastitsada was very spicy by nice. Quiet that night, so the staff were more attentive than on our first visit.

Still our favourite of the holiday.

Olympic - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Andrew D

Onasis meze is mushroom, bacon and cheese. Pastitsada had large chunks of beef, very nice. Sofrito was better here than at the Paradise. Sweets fresh fruit and ice-cream were delicious. Dancing gets more frequent the later you stay. Good atmosphere.

Paradise Restaurant - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Andrew D

Fish was good - large portion. Sofrito beef very creamy - not to my liking. Nice atmosphere, and popular (maybe because of the 10% discount for residents of Garnavos/Paradise Apts.?). You could have your meal without chips - nice touch.

Second visit shrimp cocktail and cheese saganaki were acceptable. Beef stamna and fish with mexican sause were also acceptable - what a non-committal word that is! Yoghurt and fresh fruit at 2euros and lemon pie were reasonable. Wine ok. Generally an ok visit but nothing to rave about.

Symposia - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Andrew D

Excellent meal, though the wine was a bit dodgy (avoid med.sweet unless you particularly like "sweet"). Fish & prawns in red sauce and meze for 2 were excellent. Melon and ice-cream were ok but yoghurt and honey ended a bit sickly.

Popular restaurant and the odd (!) greek eats here too.

The Rose Garden - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Andrew D

Meze for two we found very greasy, though it was large ! Large-ish ribs, spicy chicken was nice but not spicy. A good atmosphere with friendly staff. Only restaurant we ate at where we got a bottle of wine rather than a "carafe" (metal plant pot!).

China Palace - (Restaurants in Sidari)

Andrew D

You will find this is called the China Town - one of three in Sidari, between the main centre and the restaurants in Canal d'Amour, opposite the beach.

Set meal for 2 excellent, very prompt service - slow them down if necessary by asking to delay one of the courses, but then watch your bill that you don't get charged for the desserts on top! Good setting, just off the road and plenty of space around the tables so you don't feel crowded.

Old School Taverna - (Restaurants in Kassiopi)

Andrew D

Stuffed vine leaves and stuff pepper was good, bourdetto (fish in spicy sauce and Potatoes) was average size, but the mixed fried seafood was enormous for 11euros. Wine average, walnut cake & ice-cream lovely. Very enjoyable and good location next to seafront.

Paradise Hotel - (Accommodation in Sidari)

Andrew D

The appartments are very good size. Everything worked well (except we got locked in the room twice because of a dodgy lock, repaired by staff with tin opener!). Need more coathangers - take plenty with you. Cooking via two rings above a small oven/grill.

Bathroom well done out. Plenty of hot water in evenings for showering. Just enough furniture in room. Cleaning is matter of luck. Our first week, it was brilliant, but the second week let the hotel/apartments down badly. Balcony reasonable size and wonderful pool view.

It is a great pity they didn't fit air-con. No movement of air in evenings meant a very hot arrival back in the room and the fans can only move this hot air around.

Disappointing to have the pool overtaken by children's ball games in second week - we were told that these are reserved for the Garnavos Apts. pool. Wonderful pool though and not much reserving beds at the crack of dawn!

Bar not that expensive, though the Karaoke is better elsewhere. Don't miss the Greek night on Saturdays. Eleni on Reception is very efficient and friendly.
