Maria Apartments - (Accommodation in Sidari)

Frosty S

'Poor' doesn't actually sum up the foulness of these apartments enough - there was a window in the shower, the self catering aspect of the room turned out to be a single ringed hob, which half worked, the company overbooked so half our party ended up on Camper Beds!!! There were reports of the cleaners stealing from the tourists, our balcony door became jammed, so we didn't have access to the balcony - the staff didn't care and we had to share a door key between 3 of us, meaning everyone kept getting locked out - I spent many drunken nights on a cold floor getting eaten by the local bugs, because the staff wouldn't part with a key. The Beach is absolutely rank, with a sewage-filled river flowing straight into the sea - the locals attack you at every opportunity to buy into some scheme, even charging 7 Euros per sun lounger, the actual staff at Marias are smarmy and literally quite scary - with one actually having sex with some random blonde in the middle of one of their infamous 'Greek Nights'. The bar closes when the last person leaves and so if you're planning on having an 'early night' it'd be a good idea to bring ear-plugs... this was honestly the worst, most unpleasant and cheap looking hovel I've ever seen - not to mention been stranded in - it is most certainly NOT a Family place and should really be taken out of every British brochure, although in all honesty it has made me realise what a wonderful life I have here in Britain, I was delighted when we were leaving :0)

Sidari - (Resorts on Corfu)

F S

It's like a poor man's Blackpool, the bars feature Coronation Street and Big Brother... but what shocked me most was 'BINGO NIGHT'! I mean they try so hard to appeal to the English market and it just makes the whole place seem like a commercial nightmare. The beaches are filthy, despite how clean they look in the photos and you can't even walk around the place, without worrying about getting run down by the psychopathic locals. Apart from shopping, which once you've bought your cigarettes and alcohol becomes pointless there is very little to do apart from lie around getting baked by the sun. Admittedly this is fun for many people, but personally I found Sidari to be like a Bad Version of Hell. Families appeared really bored, with their children confined to the pool, because it was too warm and pointless to do anything else - I definately wouldn't recommend Sidari for children, or basically for anyone that doesn't enjoy talking to charmless Cockney men at midnight, or Charmless Greek men during the day. Drinking out isn't any cheaper than at home - Sidari just lacks everything that a holiday should be about, i.e. a change of scenery and perhaps even a bit of culture :0D
