Can thoroughly recommend Beachside Bungalows .... only snag is ... who on earth will have the contract for it next year ? We stayed there for 2 weeks this year (May 19th onwards) and were so impressed when we got back to UK tried to book up for next year, but my local travel agent cannot find any mention of it for next year. We are hoping to be able to find out something from somewhere. We have cheered ourselves up in the meantime by booking up for another 2 weeks in Acharavi staying at the Matoula Apts/Studios in a few weeks time ...... just love Corfu. Stu and Jan.

Please be aware if you are going to the Matoula studios / apartments in Acharavi. There are 2 Matoulas, and both are owned by the same people - except the studios/apts are so totally different.

We have just had 2 weeks (June 23rd - July 7th) at Matoula booking via the internet. We were only told it was Matoula in Acharavi, so we looked at the brochures and what people had said about the accommodation on the net. We were only expecting one Matoula with pool, snack bar, quiet and only 300 metres from the sea. Sadly we ended up in Matoula 2. This is very very basic, 3 storey block, very very noisy and slap bang on the main road. This meant we could not even have the windows open at night due to the noise. We had to buy an electric fan to try and keep cool. Our balcony was at pavement level and only 4 feet from the main pavement. This meant we had not privacy what so ever and had to keep our curtains or shutters across fro the whole 2 weeks. It was also a 15 minute walk to the beach. We met 4 other couples/families in the 2 weeks who had also expected the other Matoula and they all refused to even unpack or stay the night. Our rep told us we could move AT OUR OWN EXPENSE. We stayed but i know all the others moved out as it was appauling.

Don't get me wrong, Acharavi is a gorgeous place, the peole are so wonderful and the beach fantastic. This was my fifth visit to the resort, but on this occassion i could not get home quick enough.

So just be aware that there are TWO Matoulas and both so very very different.
