click to enlargeWent to Gouvia from 26th of june for a week , it was fanbloodytastic to say the least ! Although it looked a bit of a dump on the outskirts it was brill, stayed in a fantastic villa on the top of this very steep hill , but it was so private, with a gorgeous pool and patio etc, would highly reccommend it to anybody , also comes with a hire car , which is much needed! Well , in the brochure , it said the average temp. for june was 26degrees celcius , but we were lucky to be there in one of the hottest time's they'd had for years ... 40-42 degrees celcius every single day ! Gouvia its self at first look like a bit of a dump , but there are lovely bars and restaurants and great shops ,highly reccommend a Taverna called ARIES...hot guys working there ! with traditional greek fire dancing , and great service  - from the hot guys!  Aqua land is brill , really enjoyed it , quite expensive to get in , but worth it , oh and they even have their own aqua land song for extra cheese ! It's all good though ! Oh and there's aqua land Fm too :| oh dear ! Anyway, what a fab holiday , defo go back soon !  ( pic of view from the villa looking down at gouvia and the mainland)

Further to my previous comment we are now back and I have to say it was fine. The apartments were clean, air-conditioned and quite a good size even with 6 of us. The pool was lovely as was the pool bar and the staff always friendly and polite. The private beach wasn't up to much as it was full of reeds but apparently the beach belonging to the neighbouring hotel is nice.
The town itself has some lovely restaurants especially Fillipas. As for pubs, Irish Knights was a good laugh as was Melodies. It was very busy all night long and dodging the cars/mopeds all the time was a pain but you got used to it. Great atmosphere when Greece won the Championship.
Overall good for the kids but we still prefer Kassiopi.
