Me and my girlfriend stayed here June/July 2006, the Borghese Pension was ideal for what we needed, although i wouldn't recommend it for families with small children but for couples and younger people it is just what you need. Some nights it was noisy but i think it depends on where abouts your room is, as ours was above the bar, but its not unbearable and you do get used to it. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and chatty, and Cj's is a few doors down and is a great place to have brekie, as although you do get something at Borghese its only toast and a drink. Hiring a speed boat was the highlight of our holiday and would recommend it to anyone, you can find the most amazing hidden coves and clear blue sea. Popping into Dirty Nellies is a must. Overall Ipsos is a great place to go, it has the right balance between lazy days and crazy nights... Will definitely be returning..

Cheers,

Hey, Jo n me stayed here in early august 2006. We booked two days before and were quite impressed, despite the comments here. Yes, the breakfast leaves nothing to be desired, but it is kept clean and the maid is very friendly and helpful if you chat to her. The only downfall was the loud music until 3 in the morning, but you soon get used to it. I think that also depends on the room you are staying in, we were right above the night bar. Definitely hire a boat from the big greek guy across the road. I think it was called Memas boat hire. He is a really nice guy and very friendly. He let us take the boat out again on the last day free after hiring it earlier in the week for 70 euros for the whole day! Great value and you can go anywhere you want in it even to secluded beaches which was great fun for snorkelling n stuff :) Also, we hired a go-kart type buggy which was really fun, and drove to Corfu Town for some shopping. The roads are quite stressfull though! On the whole it is really good value and you can barter down prices. Just watch out for black henna, which is poisonous and some people can react badly to. It will be advertised as henna tatoos, but infact henna is NEVER black, real henna is only ever brown and so they add chemicals which are poisonous to make it black. I didn't know this until I had it done and came out in blisters.

Overall, a great holiday, loadsa fun would definitely recommend doing it to anyone, it is not really a night life place, more for couples so if your young looking for lots of clubs, you wont find them in ipsos i'm afraid.

Good luck, and happy holidays! :)

We booked a last minute deal and this was our allocated hotel. We read the reviews b4 we left on this site and had mixed feelings due to some of the comments left !!! We had a fantastic time in Ipsos and totally loved the place and yes the hotel was very noisy (especially in room 1 where we stayed above the dj box) however had a fantastic view over the beach accross the road. All the staff are lovely and may well book different accomodation next time but didnt really put us off enough if that was all that was available again. Definately a lovely part of corfu - preffered it to Dassia and Corfu town when we visited there and no hassle from the restaurants in the evenings to make you come and eat in their restaurants!!!!!! We needed a break and apart from pretty loud music we acheived that........

I read people's comments before going to Borghese Pension for a week but went to Corfu with an open mind (have been a couple of times before so no shocks expected).  Borghese was just not up to anything in particular - we didn't  bother with breakfast but went for a full English a couple of doors away (CJ's) and didn't drink at Borghese either - much too expensive - definately a bar for late teens/early twenties.  I agree about the owner(s) - George was very bush strutting his stuff on the beach in front of about 6 or 7 English girls - all I could do was laugh (I am nearly 50 so I can laugh now!)  He was not quite rude but bordering on it.  I got my passport back via the cleaner on the morning of departure with a note stuck in it saying I owed some money for cocktails - never had one the whole week - so look out for that one.

It's just basic accommodation and I didn't realist the Corfiats didn't like to be as clean as us Brits.  I do find it rather revolting having to use the same sheets for 3 or 4 days at a time plus the loo bin being emptied every other day - gross.

Still, I love Corfu and we'll be looking for a self catering apartment next year and taking more supplies of essentials.

The Borghese Pension is the wosrt place i have ever stayed in, ever! Very unfriendly, small and smelly. The breakfast are something to behold though......two slices of bread and a hot watery drink! exceptional a round of applause for the cook.! All the boys are interested in is showboating in front of their friends in the evening "look at us we own a bar". In the mornings we were greeted with a grunt from our bleary eyed host whom may have downed to many Vodkas the night before. This happened every morning and in some cases we never even recieved a grunt. As for cleanliness it left a lot to be desired. How can something be classed as clean when the sheets are only changed once a week. On a more positive note Ipsos is a lovely place, hiring a boat opposite the Borghese is a must and you will be greeted from a friendly man whom cant do more than enough for you. He extends his hospility further than his own business which is a far cry from the big headed people running the Borghese Pension. Will visit Ipsos again but will defintley find other accommadation.

I have just got back from a weeks holiday in Ipsos and stayed at the Borghese Pension. It was brilliant. I am so tired at the mo because have been travelling through the night but I can't sleep because I'm suffering from post-holiday blues. I am so sad to be back in cloudy England. The apartments were great for what my friend and I wanted, not luxury but clean and safe, in a great location and with lovely views of the bay. The brothers (inc. George) certainly made the holiday for me, especially one in particular  (Alex!). They were really friendly and made the atmosphere in the bar (which is without a doubt the best bar in Ipsos) that extra bit special. I loved it and miss it already.

I found my stay enjoyable. The accomodation was basic, which is usually the case in Corfu. I felt the family was great with the holiday makers and they was always up for a laugh. Overall I felt it was a decent holiday, however not the best I have been on. I miss Dirty Nellies, I had many a good night in there!!!!
