just got back from spyros appts. on09/09/03. the appts are fairly basic but very clean and in a wonderfull location, esp for the money. we were in room no.1 which has the best views i think the kitchen, with good utensils (no bottle opener!), bathroom and balcony are all reasonable size. There are some nice pools nearby the best is a 15 min walk at the acapulco appts. you can also dive off the rocks from here. the valley pool is the nearest just over the road but they do tend to play their music loud all day and night which i find dead annoying for such a generally quiet resort. This is no Kavos so no 18-30's with their wog boxes are likely to turn up either. go and see jimmy at jimmys bar for a laugh its one of only 3 other livelyish bars in the walking distance. theres alot of walking and exploring to be done and take your snorkell too. watch out for wasps and mozies esp. on the beach bbq day out. The local supermarket is not that big but sells all the basics. there are a handfull of resturants but all very similar in menu and price,Oasis taverna does a nice swordfish.
the airport is very small and baggage reclaim is a nightmare so dont be worried if you have to wait ages for your cases. All the locals are really friendly, hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

I have just returned from Paleo and thought that the resort was beautiful. I stayed in the Spyros Apartments which, are situated about 25mins away from the main beach. Luckily there is a really nice public pool straight over the road at the 'Valley Bar'. I spent most of my days here and really enjoyed it. On the last day we headed down to La Grotta Bar - well worth a visit! and hired a boat for 2 hours at 70 Euro. This is one of the best ways to see the local beaches. If this sounds abit expensive you can catch a taxi boat for 10 Euros pp and get to the small beaches that way. We went with Olmpic Holidays (although Goldensun use these apartments too). Our room was basic and small. Most of the apartments have 2 bedrooms and think our's was the only one that didn't. The kitchen had a sink, fridge and 2 electric cooking rings (that took an age to get warm). We had a lovely view and big terrace to sit out on. The bathroom was tiny but practical. My only fault with the resort is how spread out everthing is and if you on the outskirts like we were it is difficult getting around in the heat (100f in the day, 90f at night). Beware of insects and lizards-they are out in force!

The roads in Paleo are terrible with hardly any pavements. The greeks drive very fast and without alot of care. For those travelling with children this is worth baring in mind. Spyros Apartments are on the main road, though set back, and right on a bend. It can be noisy at night due to 'boy races' but you do switch off from it eventually!

Overall all I enjoyed my stay and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. The grounds were well kept and the owner was very friendly. A bargin!
