We have booked to stay at the Mariana in July 08 I know someone said it was on the road to San Stefanos from Sidari but I wondered just how far ? Is it as far as The Elena which are by Kosmar ?Someone also said hope for the new block !Are the two bedroom apartments in both or just one it wont make the slightest bit of difference but curiosity is getting the better of me I love Corfu and am really excited to be going again !

I have just returned from the Marianna apartments in Sidari, Corfu. I took my three daughters and grandaughter and we had two apartments next door to one another. This is a family run business with Marianna and her two sons Spiros and Stefan. They are extremely lovely people and nothing was too much trouble for them! I was surprised to read the previous reviews and can only think that these other visitors did not make themselves clear if there was any problem? Our apartments were cleaned and we had fresh white towels and bed linen provided. The kitchen equipment is basic but who goes away to slave in a kitchen? Marianna cooks all the food fresh when ordered and grows her own produce on site! She works extemely hard from 9am until 10pm at night. She also gave lifts to town to guests when taxis were not available! Her two sons run the bar and look after the site and the grounds are kept immaculate - grass cut , pool cleaned, bar areas clean and tidy. Everything looks freshly painted. Cleanliness is certainly not an issue! They all speak a good standard of English (much better than my Greek!) Sidari is a lively buzzing town with plenty of Bars, Clubs and restaurants to suit most tastes and pockets! My teenage daughter made friends at the Marianna apartments and they all went to the clubs at the weekend together (5 Euros in a cab) Its about 15-20 mins walk into Sidari town/ beach and same the other way to Canal d'amour. It was a great holiday for us! Two weeks for 5 people cost us £850 through Thomas Cook. We had an Olympic Rep called Vicky who was on site throughout the week to help with any questions etc. In fact the only complaint I heard was about the cost of the Olympic excursions! You can book just as good trips in Sidari for a fraction of the cost! I will certainly be going back as it was one of the best holidays I have had and great value for money.

we got back from mariana apts today. we are very regular travellers but must say that this was the worst experience we have had while in sidari. the transfer through olympic holidays was terrible, over three hours stuck on the coach, when we arrived at the apt. which is a good 2 miles from town, we had to make our own beds, (not nice when you have been up all night) when we looked around the place it hadnt been cleaned properly from when the last people had left, crumbs, soiled toilet etc, the sheets were only changed once in the whole two weeks we were there, very rarely did we have hot water, and were fobbed off with let the tap run for ten mins as it takes time. still cold after an hour. the staff we found were ignorant, and not interested in the guests at all. only when allowing a young child to run up a extensive bar bills and not informing the parents. there are no showers for guests to use once they have vacated there rooms on departure day, so if you have a flight early morning as we did just try and stay clean. oh, and 1 other point when it rains the apartments leak so be careful where you sleep. and the horrible iguana in a tank on the bar should be set free, if it where kept in those conditions in england the owners would be locked up. mind you at least its room is clean. ps. also you have to provide your own toilet roll a first for us, and buy pans and knives as there arent enough supplied. No we wont be going back again EVER Terry & Gina from peterborough

I stayed at the mariana with three of my friends last june. we though it was terrible but we got used to it. its like the hotel is just thrown on the side of the main road. and its about a 15 minute walk to town, and at nights rather than taking a torch...just get a cab and go home because its way tooo dark to walk, not safe. when we first got to our room it was horrible, the work tops had crumbs on them and it wasn't clean, the room upstairs was dirty and had cobwebs, and the the mosquito nets where broken, when we reported it, the manager ripped them down in a rage...
in our reps meeting by the pool... the staff gave us all dirty glasses!!!!!!
we made the holiday our own, but i'd say spend a bit extra and go for soemthing a bit better

Hi Jutt, in answer to your query as to the location of the Mariana. They are a good 30 minute walk to the Canal side of Sidari and the beach.
They are situated on the road to Aghios Stefanos in a rural area. Very peaceful and relaxing. You can take a taxi into Sidari for 5 euros each way.
I am sure you will enjoy yourself as we have just spent two lovely weeks there.
Regards,

Hi we have booked to stay at the marianna apartments on the 25/07/05 although most of the reviews we've seen say that the apartments are away from the centre and as we've no map was wondering if anyone could tell us where they are or near? If they are near the Canal or the other side of the resort etc.... and how far to the beach etc. Best wishes |
